Membuat surat complaint in English
Tulisan ini adalah lanjutan dari grammar correction sebelumnya. Tulisan ini adalah tulisan saat exam saya yang kedua di International House, Auckland University of Technology. Saat menulis blog ini, saya sedang belajar English course dan tergabung di kelas kelas advanced (C1). Tulisan ini akan dibagi dua, yakni tulisan original dan grammar correction.

Baik, langsung saja kita lihat tulisan original-nya sebelum diberikan correction:


Dear Manager of The Dragon
We are regret to express our discomfort and dissatisfaction when we were having our dishes at your restaurant. We are afraid to tell you that information in the website is not accurate and misleading. As it is written that the food is exceptional and affordable, we felt that the food tasted similar each other. Furthermore, we are charged too much for small portions of food.

We were happy to see variety of food in menu list. Unfortunately, we felt upset due to waiters could not explain half of the menu. They went to ask the chef and it took longer time for us to decide our dishes. We were not only waited too long but also we found the air conditioning was not working properly causing high temperature trapped around our table.

Due to inaccurate information as well as unpleasant experience we had, we think that we are deserved to receive certain kind of compensation. We wish this complain will bring improvement in the future for your restaurant. Thanks for reading this letter.

Penjelasan: Express discomfort with selalu diikuti oleh kata benda (noun).
Discomfort adalah set phrase

2. Penggunaan to be dan tenses
We are regret to express our discomfort and dissatisfaction....
- .....the website is not accurate and is misleading.
It was is written that the food is exceptional and....
Furthermore, we are were charged too much for small portions of food.
- ....waiters could not being able to explain half of the menu.
- We were not only waited too long....

3. Penggunaan subject
We are I am afraid to tell you that information.

4. Penggunaan preposisi
- ....that information in on the website is not accurate....
- ....the food is exceptional and affordable but we felt that....
We were happy to see variety of food in on the menu....

5. Penggunaan discourse mark
- we felt upset due to the fact that waiters....

6. Penggunaan conjunction
As It was.... 

7. Penggunaan kata

Wah, ternyata menulis dalam bahasa Inggris itu tidak mudah yah. Dari surat pendek diatas, terdapat banyak kesalahan yang saya kelompokkan menjadi 11 bagian. Semoga grammar correction diatas menjadi pembelajaran yang penting, bagi saya pribadi, dan bagi teman-teman yang telah membaca.
